The origin of the information is the famous 4chan forum, where a series of files have been released that make up the aforementioned Game Boy and GBA emulators. These emulators, whose codenames are “Hyoko” (Game Boy) and “sloop” (Game Boy Advance), were co-developed by NERDacronyms referring to Nintendo European Research & Development, a division of the company that has also developed other emulators for Nintendo Switch.

When will these emulators be available on Nintendo Switch?
For the time being, it’s unclear when or how Nintendo might release these emulators for its flagship console, the Nintendo Switch. However, looking at the company’s strategy, everything suggests that these products will be part of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, like other previous console emulators.
Nintendo Switch Online is available in two different plans: the standard option, which allows the multiplayer in addition to an additional supplement; and the option with expansion packs, which adds some DLC for Nintendo titles (such as Animal Crossing or Mario Kart) to online connectivity. This latest pack also offers the ability to play some N64 titles through an emulator. It wouldn’t be surprising, then, if the Game Boy and GBA emulators followed this same path and were only available to Nintendo Switch Online’s top-tier subscribers.
