Oscar-winning actor William Hurt dies aged 71

The reasons for death were not disclosed.

Guillaume Blessé He is also known for playing Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Incredible Hulk (2008), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Black Widow (2021). He also appears in many science fiction films such as AI Artificial Intelligence (2001) by Steven Spielberg, dark city (1998) by Alex Proyas and the failed film adaptation of lost in space (1998).

He was born March 20, 1950 in Washington DC, his father worked for the State Department, and as a child he lived in Guam and Hawaii. After her parents divorced, her mother, Claire, moved to New York with her children. William Hurt’s earliest performances were on stage while studying in Concord, Massachusetts.

He returned to New York when he was accepted to Juilliard where he studied for three years, met and worked alongside top actors such as Christopher Reeve, Robin Williams and Mandy Patinkin.

William Hurt has been nominated three times in a row for the Best Actor Oscar.
